Court St. Authorities said that details of the fire have not been determined. In as much as the man was alone at the time. His clothing was burning when other persons in the house smelled smoke and went to his aid. The son of Samuel and Anna Barker he was born February 22, 1898, at Troy. He lived in Ottumwa, for the past 38 years, doing lawn work in the residential district. Surviving are his two sons, Kenneth and Billy Barker, both of Ottumwa; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Thorne, Lennox; three brothers, George W. Barker, Frank B. Barker, in Samuel N. Barker, all of Ottumwa, and his sister Mrs. Jesse Lawson, Red Oak. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral Chapel awaiting completion of arrangements. Funeral services for Glen Edward Barker of 1108 N. Court St., who died at the Ottumwa Hospital Friday at 7:55 AM, will be held at the Johnson funeral Chapel Monday at 3:30 PM in charge of the Rev. W. B. Friend of the Pentecostal church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. The pallbearers for the service will be his nephews.
