Glen passed away on July 27, 2006 at a care center in Lake Norden, South Dakota. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, rural Hayti, South Dakota. Glen was born on December 9, 1917 in Willow Lake, South Dakota to Einar and Georgina (Ness) Torper. He was baptized and confirmed in the Good Hope Lutheran Church, rural Willow Lake, on July 19, 1931. Glen attended a rural country school in Clark County completing the eighth grade. On June 9, 1942, Glen was united in marriage to Agnes Rund at the Hayti Lutheran Church parsonage. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Hayti. In 1962, they purchased a farm two and one-half miles southwest of Thomas. He farmed all his adult life and raised Black Angus cattle. They retired from the farm in 1988 and moved to Hayti, South Dakota. On February 2, 1996, Agnes passed away at the Lake Norden Care Center. In the summer of 2003, Glen sold his Hayti home and moved to Watertown, South Dakota. He entered Lake Norden Care Center on December 31, 2003. Glen was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Glen is survived by one daughter, Karen and her husband, Byron Thompson of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren Denise Schopen and fiancé Ken Petersen and Doug Thompson and his wife, Lori and four great-grandchildren: Emily and Chase Schopen and Ben and Megan Thompson all of Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes, his parents, one brother, and four sisters. Arrangements by Crawford Funeral Chapel, Hayti.
