Description	:	Glen E. Merritt was born on a farm about 3 miles east of Creighton, Nebr., Sept. 27, 1891 and died in a hospital at Norfolk, Nebr., Jan. 23, 1931. He graduated from the 8th grade in the rural schools and thereafter attended the public school in Creighton, completing the course. He resided with his parents for some years on their farm near Creighton, later removing from them to Creighton. Merritt was born on a farm about 3 miles east of Creighton, Nebr., Sept. 27, 1891 and died in a hospital at Norfolk, Nebr., Jan. 23, 1931. He graduated from the 8th grade in the rural schools and thereafter attended the public school in Creighton, completing the course. He resided with his parents for some years on their farm near Creighton, later removing from them to Creighton. From Creighton he went to Running Water, S.D. and then to Niobrara, where he maintained his residence at the time of his demise. He served Knox county efficiently as Register of Deeds for eight years, completing his last term on January 8th of this year. Glen was an enthusiastic sportsman, liking the outdoor life and enjoyed hunting and fishing very much. He was also an excellent tennis player and although handicapped physically he was able to hold his own with top notch players. He participated in many Northeast Nebraska tennis meets. He had been under the doctor's care for some time, going but a few days before his death to the hospital for special treatment for cardiac ailment. The immediate surviving relatives are: the mother, Mrs. Alice Merritt and sister, Blanche of Niobrara and Mrs. Oscar Schrier of Verdigre. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Niobrara, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with a large crowd of friends in attendance. Interment was in the Greenwood cemetery at Creighton and many friends paid tribute at the final resting place. The News unites with friends in extending condolences to the sorrowing relatives.
