His boyhood was spent on the farm north of Parks, Nebraska, where he attended District No. 24 Elementary School and then Benkelman High School. His boyhood was spent on the farm north of Parks, Nebraska, where he attended District No. 24 Elementary School and then Benkelman High School. On October 25, 1939, he was united in marriage with Ardis Ruth Stitt at a ceremony at the Methodist parsonage at St. Francis, Kansas. To this union were born three children, Justine, Ted and Tom. After working briefly at a service station in Benkelman, he worked on a farm north of Benkelman and then continued framing on his own. In 1966 the family moved into town but they continued to operate the farm. He entered the Chase County Hospital at Imperial, Nebraska, October 9 and died October 24, 1994 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 8 days. His death was just one day short of what would have been their 55th wedding anniversary. Both Glen and Ardis became members of Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman, February 28, 1965, and he was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges. He was precede in death by his parents; a sister, Annie Mosser who died in 1935; a granddaughter, Tina Marie who died in infancy, and a son-in-law, Dale Likens. Survivors He is survived by his wife, Ardis; his daughter Justin Likens of Holyoke, Colorado; his son, Ted and wife, Karen of Lincoln, Nebraska and his son, Tom of Benkelman; four grandchildren, Donna Fisher and husband Matt, of Bassett, Nebraska, Diana Kellogg and husband, Pat, of Grand Island, Nebraska, Debra Kaup and husband, Doug, of McKinleville, California, and John Uptegrove of Omaha, Nebraska; three step-grandchildren, Lynette Johnson and husband Rod, of Imperial, Nebraska, Valarie Brush and husband, Dave, of Aurora, Colorado and Yolanda Ambrosek and husband, Mark of Haigler, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren; five step great-granchildren; two sister, Alice Baney and husband Leon Jr. of Benkelman and Leah Els and husband, Byron, of Benkelman; two brothers, Gene Richard of St. Francis, Kansas, and Leo Richard and wife, Jean Ann of Benkelman; many other relatives and friends. He especially loved having his family and loved ones around him. Services A funeral service was held Thursday, October 27, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. At Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman with the Rev. Douglas Allen officiating. Jackie Wilson was the organist and Kelly Hayward the soloist, Selections included "Home on the Range" and "The Great Speckled Bird". Bearers were Relgene Zimbelman, Harry Whillington, Merrel Martin, Eldon Hardwick, Gayle Jensen and Mark Hanes. Committal was by members of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 361 of Benkelman. Interment was in the Benkelman Cemetery with Jones Funeral Home of Benkelman in charge of arrangements.
