He was the son of George and Augusta (Houdek) Klimesh on the family farm between Protivin and Spillville; Winneshiek County, Iowa. Glen attended country school near his home and Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School. He married Alice Kriener on Tuesday; September 14, 1954 at Saint Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas; Fayette County, Iowa and to this union ten children were born. Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Glen Joseph Klimesh was born on Monday; August 28, 1933. He was the son of George and Augusta (Houdek) Klimesh on the family farm between Protivin and Spillville; Winneshiek County, Iowa. Glen attended country school near his home and Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School. He married Alice Kriener on Tuesday; September 14, 1954 at Saint Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas; Fayette County, Iowa and to this union ten children were born. Glen farmed near Spillville for fifty-two years, raising beef cattle and a dairy operation. He enjoyed making maple syrup for many years, with the help of his family. Glen loved his beef cattle, Alice's kolaches and laughing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Glen was a member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the First Czech Slovak Ladies Association (formerly the Catholic Workman), and served as a National Director of the Catholic Workmen for nine years. He served as a trustee for Sumner Township; and on the board of the Foremost Farm Dairy Coop; Farm Bureau and the South Winn School Board Committee. Glen was a member and a director in the State of Iowa and Winneshiek County Cattleman groups for many years. He was instrumental in starting the first "Northland Classic Club Calf Sale", which recently held its twenty-first sale. Glen Joseph Klimesh, 73, of rural Calmar; Winneshiek County, Iowa, passed away on Sunday; February 4, 2007, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage; Mitchell County, Iowa after a long illness. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Alice Klimesh of Calmar, Iowa. His three daughters; Glenda (Dr. Kelly) Ross of Osage, Iowa. Arla Klimesh of Rochester; Olmsted County, Minnesota and Jan (Randy) Samuelson, Phelps; Vilas County, Wisconsin. His seven sons; Lyle (friend Bertha) Klimesh, Oklahoma City; Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. Keith Klimesh, Cresco; Howard County, Iowa. Ronnie (Janice) Klimesh, Lawler; Chickasaw County, Iowa. Loren (Sue) Klimesh and Stac (Karen) Klimesh, both of Ridgeway; Winneshiek County, Iowa. Kurt Klimesh and Kent Klimesh, both of Calmar, Iowa. Twenty-six grandchildren. Three brothers; Gabe (Mary) Klimesh and Gordon (Shirley) Klimesh, both of Spillville, Iowa and Gary Klimesh of Rock Island; Rock Island County, Illinois. Three sisters; Gayle Hudecek, Cresco, Iowa. Greta (Herman) Kriener of Spillville, Iowa and Gloria Klimesh, Waterloo; Black Hawk County, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; George and Augusta Klimesh. One grandson; Joseph Klimesh. Father & mother-in-law; Joe & Julie Kriener. One brother; George Klimesh. Two sisters; Georgina Andera and Gwendolyn Klimesh. One sister-in-law; Alice B. Klimesh and One brother-in-law: Henry Kriener. May they all rest in peace. Visitation will be on Wednesday; February 7, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, Iowa with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. There will also be visitation after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday morning. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday; February 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa by Rev. Donald Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
