Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Hoschler Post 186 of Akron. He married Deloris Oltmanns on July 27, 1947, in Craig Iowa. He was employed with Plymouth Co-op, Jespersen Oil, Hartman Brothers and as a custodian with Akron Westfield School for 22 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a survivor of the U.S.S. Indianapolis. He was a member of the U.S.S. Indianapolis Survivors Association, American Legion, where he was a post commander, and the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and as church treasurer and usher. Survivors include his wife, two sons and their wives, Ken and Lynette and Arlin and Arlene, all of Sioux City, three grandchildren, Matt, Michael and Mark, a sister, Arlene Johnson of Sioux City, and a brother and his wife, Wayne and Marilyn of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don, and a brother-in-law, Bud Johnson.
