Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Noonan with Pastor Janet Gwin officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Noonan. Glen Leslie Spooner was born September 22, 1937 in Noonan, the son of Louie and Gladys (Brodal) Spooner. He graduated from Noonan High School. Glen attended NDSU for one year and graduated from NDSSS with a degree in welding. He loved woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing and card playing. He also enjoyed bowling and his pets, especially “Gigi”. He was an avid reader of spy novels. He enjoyed watching Antique Road Show, Jeopardy, Lawrence Welk and the Bison sports on TV. Glen was a lifetime Noonan area farmer and rancher. He started farming as a freshman with his father and brother, Neale. He also worked at his father's lumberyard in Noonan. Glen married the love of his life, Barbara Gausvik, on August 11, 1956. They had four children: Gary, Laurel, Shayla and Wade. After having kids, he took on a second job driving school bus. He also worked at Baukol Noonan Mine Company for a short time. In 1998, after retiring, Glen and Barb started wintering in Yuma, Arizona, for 18 years. He enjoyed shuffleboard, playing cards, eating out and the warmer weather. His favorite pastime was taking GiGi for a ride on the golf cart or in the basket of his bike. In 2006, Glen and Barb moved to Minot to be closer to family. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Gladys; sister and brother-in-law, Joan (Dale) Clemens; mother-in-law, Lucille Gausvik, and fathers-in-law, Emmett Gausvik, Clarence Anseth and Art Haga and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Minot; children, Gary and Marcy Spooner, Tioga, Laurel and Scott Burner, Minot, Shayla and David Durick, West Fargo, and Wade and Helen Spooner, Bismarck; brother, Neale and Cathy Spooner, Las Vegas; 12 grandkids; 16 great grandkids and nephews and cousins. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Noonan, or the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery fund. Stakston-Martin Funeral Home, Crosby, is in charge of arrangements.
