Tom was born on April 6, 1924 in Waterville at the home of his parents, Glen T. Arganbright, Sr. and Lulu Whiteside Arganbright. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1942. He and his friend, Conrad Menzel, both seniors, had together signed up for the Air Force soon after hearing of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He attended Kansas State University for a semester before being called into service. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and remained in the Kansas Army National Guard, retiring in 1962. He began his pilot training at Michigan State University and received his pilot wings in San Antonia, TX. Tom graduated from the Lincoln School of Business and in 1946 he joined his father on the staff of Citizens State Bank in Waterville, retiring in 1986. He married Helen Elizabeth Seaton on July 2, 1944 in Waterville. They were the parents of Carolyn, John and James. Helen died in 1959. He married LaVerna Ann Bergsten on May 28, 1961 in Emporia. They became the parents of a daughter, Jennifer. Tom was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, American Legion Springer Post 332, and the Sutton Lodge #85 of the AF&AM. He had been active in the Waterville Chamber of Commerce, served on the Waterville City Council, the Community Memorial Hospital Board and Riverside Cemetery Board. He was active for years in the Marshall Co. Bankers Association. He had been a Waterville Volunteer Fireman for 29 years. Along with many civic duties, he served a time as the local boy scout master. He & his wife, LaVerna received the Kaw Valley Girl Scout Couple award in 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helen and his sister Arlowyne "Arley" Thomas. Survivors include his wife, LaVerna, sons, John & wife Corinne of Waterville, James & wife Marcia of Hillsboro, OR, daughters, Carolyn and husband Francis of Waterville and Jennifer of Denver, CO. Also surviving him are six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Next to his beloved family, anything about flying and airplanes was the love of his life since he was a young boy. He also enjoyed boating, football, snow skiing, yard work and his hometown. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waterville with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville.
