Description	:	Glen W. "Squeaky" Brinkman, 85, of Beatrice, died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Sunday morning, September 1, 2013. He was born on February 11, 1928 at Omaha and attended and graduated from Douglas High School in Douglas, NE. He married Avis Higgins on August 27, 1950 at the Methodist Church of Raymond. They lived and worked in Morris, Illinois at Northern Petrol Chemical from 1969 until moving to Beatrice in 1981. "Squeaky" Brinkman, 85, of Beatrice, died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Sunday morning, September 1, 2013. He was born on February 11, 1928 at Omaha and attended and graduated from Douglas High School in Douglas, NE. He married Avis Higgins on August 27, 1950 at the Methodist Church of Raymond. They lived and worked in Morris, Illinois at Northern Petrol Chemical from 1969 until moving to Beatrice in 1981. He worked at Northern Natural Gas for 34 years and at the time of his retirement in 1986 was the operation and maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beatrice and Masonic Lodge #26 AF & AM of Beatrice where he served as secretary for 10 years. He was a former member of Sunrise Sertoma and was a member of the Agricultural Society, charter member of Blue Valley Antique Collectors Association, Southeast Nebraska Antique Power Association and a John Deere collector. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling and was an avid rodeo fan. He was the volunteer coordinator at the Filley Stone Barn and for the 4th grade Pioneer Days and was a volunteer at the Homestead National Monument, where he received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Survivors include his wife, Avis of Beatrice; two sons, Charles Brinkman and wife Gail and Lance Brinkman and wife Susan all of Beatrice; three daughters, Charlene Myers and husband Dwain of Vancouver, Washington, Lori Brinkman of Omaha and Leslie Stevens and husband David of Peoria, Illinois; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nina Lea Burgess Brinkman. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Beatrice with Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by Beatrice Masonic Lodge #26. Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. at the Rose Hill Cemetery of rural Douglas. A family prayer service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday in the fellowship room of the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family's choice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon Monday until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Wednesday. The family will meet and greet relatives and friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
