Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. 1941-2017 Glenda Starkel was born Dec. 21, 1941, to Glenn and Lisetta (Dangberg) Bowers in Norfolk. She attended Sacred Heart School, earned her GED, received an associates degree from Northeast Community College, a bachelors degree from Bellevue in behavioral health and was currently working towards her master's degree from Grand Canyon University. She maintained a 4.0 GPA. She married Henry Starkel in 1958. After their marriage, she and Henry traveled while Henry was in the service with the Army. They lived in Colorado, Kansas, and Texas before returning to Norfolk. She worked at Henningsen Foods, and then at Dale Electronics for 38 years. Barbara loved to work towards achieving a higher education, dancing, riding motorcycles and listening to music. Survivors include her children, Kevin (Jeannie) Starkel of Norfolk, Lori (Greg) Staudenmaier of Norfolk, Kellye Starkel of Norfolk, Jeremy (Kristin) Starkel of Omaha; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings Karen (Jack) Thompson of Norfolk, Gail (Lyn) Bowers of Scottsdale, Ariz., Marlene (Don) Sedlacek of Overland Park, Kan., and Lynn Bowers of Warsaw, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Lisetta; son Terry Starkel; and brothers Ron Bowers and Jerry Bowers. Mary Bruckner will be the organist for the service, and the Bound For Glory Choir will sing. Memorials can be sent to 703 Queen City Blvd., Norfolk, NE. 68701.
