(Magie) Sanderson at Pittsburg, KS. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1958 and Pittsburg State University in 1962. Read More	Glenda K (Sanderson) Mays, 72, of Frontenac, passed away at 1:58 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013, at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg. She was born October 23, 1940, to Ray C. and Alice M. (Magie) Sanderson at Pittsburg, KS. She attended local schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1958 and Pittsburg State University in 1962. Upon graduating from college she taught French and English at Ft. Scott for the 1962-1963 school year. On December 29, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert Mays at Mulberry, KS. Robert had just gone into the Army, so she joined him in Huntsville, AL, where she worked at Burroughs. Together they moved from there to Columbia, SC, where she worked in the Registrar's Office at the University of South Carolina. They then moved to Petersburg, VA, where she worked at the Remmie Arnold Pen Co. Next was a move to Orleans, France in 1964 and there she worked in the office of the Army PX. When they returned to Pittsburg, she again worked in the Registrar's Office at Pittsburg State University (had worked there while in college) from 1965-1966. In 1967 they moved to Wichita and she worked at Wichita Federal. Then they moved back to Pittsburg and she began her career at the SRS office in 1968. She worked there for 33 years as an Eligibility Worker until her retirement in 2000. Membership was held in the First Christian Church, Pittsburg. Also Mrs. Mays was a member of the Disciple Women (treasurer of Diann Group), church co-librarian, member of Bells of Praise, a church bell choir, Bells of the Balkans, a secular bell choir, and Survivors, a group of retired SRS workers. Mrs. Mays is survived by her husband, Robert, of the home, Frontenac, one sister, Sandra Adams of Gonzales, TX, two nieces, Armenta Thick and Laura Byrd both of Gonzales, TX, three nephews, Steve Benton of Gonzales, TX, Walker Adams of Austin, TX, and Mystro Adams of Gonzales, TX, seven great nieces and nephews, and ten great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one niece and two nephews. Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS
