Glendon Bryan was born in Riceville, Iowa in 1902 to Clarence and Augusta Bryan. He came to North Dakota in at the age of four. His parents farmed to the homestead of his grandparents in Clayton Township. He married Ruby Owings on Nov. 10, 1927. In 1937 they bought the W. D. Owings farm (Ruby Bryan's grandparents) and lived there until retirement in 1969 when thev moved to Bowbells. Active in politics, he served as Democratic Committeeman, member of the township board, Farm Security Board, Flaxton Oil Co. Board, and was President of the County Farmers Union Board. He vigorously supported all cooperatives. He helped organize, the Burke Divide Electric Cooperative, serving as Vice President for two years and Secretary-Treasurer for 27 years. He retired from the board in 1977 after 33 years of service. He spent 25 years serving on the North Dakota State Rural Electric Board as Second Vice President. He also worked on the State Executive Board from 1960 until his retirement. At the time of his death he was serving on the Soil Conservation Board, Aging Council and the Transportation Board for Senior Citizens. He had aided in the organization of the Senior Citizens of Bowbells in 1971. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Mary Lynne) Jensen and Mrs. Petrauski; four grandchildren, Jeffery, Warren, and Larry Jensen and Renee Strickland; one great-grandchild, Shane Jensen. He was preceded by his mother and father and two brothers. A reviewal be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 2 p.m. Thurslay at the church in Bowbells. From The Kenmare News
