Read More	From: Mueller Funeral Home Glenellen Huling November 25, 1924 - December 10, 2012 Biography Glenellen "Lindy" (Marshall) Huling, 88, of Peru, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Manor Court in Peru. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in LaSalle with Pastor David K. Bratton, son-in-law officiating. Her final resting place will be on the Huling family plot in Lawndale Cemetery, overlooking the former family farm, in Rosewood, OH. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Peru. Mrs. Huling was born November 25, 1924 in St. Mary's Hospital in LaSalle to Dr. E. Glenn and Juanita (Henry) Marshall. As a toddler, Lindbergh was in the news and dinner discussions. Whenever an airplane would fly overhead, she would point upwards and cry "Lindy, Lindy" which became her nickname she kept for life. She attended LaSalle-Peru High School and married her high school sweetheart, Donald J. Huling in 1943 at First Congregational Church in LaSalle. Both the Hulings and the Marshalls were members of First Congregational Church in LaSalle and involved in the community. Lindy played the cello, pipe organ, piano and periodically directed the church choir. During World War II, she taught in a one-room school while Don served in the Army Airforce. She continued teaching for over twenty years, mostly first and second graders in Dimmick Township where she strove to make every day of learning "like Christmas". Lindy is survived by her husband, Don of Peru and three children, Donalyn H. (Dave) Bratton of Randolf, NJ, James "Jamie" Huling of Nashville, TN and Vickyle H. (Donald) Payton of Cincinnati, OH. They have six grandchildren, David (Dani) Bratton, Douglas (Pam Melyan) Bratton, Jesse Huling, Corianne (Jonathan) Scally, Brett Payton and Evan (Summer) Payton and four great-grandchildren, Skylar Bratton, Caden Bratton and Evelyn and Abigail Scally who feel blessed to have had the love and nurturing of Lindy in their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Summit Learning Center Memorial Fund at Grace United Methodist Church, 1345 Chartres St., LaSalle, IL 61301.
