Lange, 43, of Marion route 1 took his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning, Linn County Coroner Robert Brosh, said late Friday. Mr. Lange's body was found in his car parked in a wooded area about a quarter-mile from his home on Chain Lakes road. The discovery was made by a brother and brother-in-law about 2:15 p.m. Friday. Earlier Friday, Mrs. Lange had received a letter from her husband which constituted a suicide note, Deputy Sherrif Phil Hoover said. The letter passed through the Cedar Rapids post office at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Lange had reported that her husband left home about noon Thursday to go to Cedar Rapids in search of employment. Hoover said Mr. Lange had connected a vacuum cleaner hose to his car's exhaust pipe, and run the hose into the car through the trunk. Coroner Brosh said Mr. Lange had been dead about 24 hours when found. Born June 28, 1914, at Springville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lange, Mr. Lange attended public schools in Springville. He was married Nov. 12, 1935, to Ruth White at Marion. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, {private}; a brother, Leslie, Cedar Rapids; his father and two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Irma) Gifford of Marion and Mrs. Melvin (Wilma) Lawrence of Center Point. The body is at the Murdoch chapel in Marion. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Oak Shade cemetery. The family asks that flowers be omitted. Married Ruth Eleanor White on Nov. 12, 1936. She remarried in Dec. 1958 and is buried in Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids, IA.
