Burial will be in Colo Cemetery. He was horn Oct. 14, 1914, in Nevada, to Joseph and Lulu Dayton Brownfield. He graduated from Colo High School in 1934. He married Berneice Shenkle on Aug. 20, 1941, in Memphis, Mo. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for National Tea in Nevada for 10 years and was assistant meat manager at Fareway in Ames for 22 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the E.U.B. and Colo United Methodist Church, Colo Lions Club where he served as secretary/treasurer, received the Lions Club Warren Coleman honorary award and was a past member of the Colo City Council. Survivors include his wife Berneice of Colo; a daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Richard) Deems of Ankeny; a granddaughter; four step-granddaughters; and three sisters, Lois (Mrs. Galen) Stratton of Ames, Lillian. (Mrs. 0.L. Hap) Wokoun of Decatur, Ill., and Marian (Mrs. John) Ewoldt of Whitten. He was preceded in death by his parents.
