Description	:	Glenn was born at Malcom, Iowa, on January 20, 1905, one of eight children of George E. and Emma Johnson Schafer. His family moved to a farm west of Malcom and he attended the rural schools and Grinnell High School. He was a tank wagon dealer for the Farm Union oil and gas station in Malcom,. and later with Conoco of Grinnell. For a brief period during W.W. II, he was employed at the Maytag Company. Read More	Glenn was born at Malcom, Iowa, on January 20, 1905, one of eight children of George E. and Emma Johnson Schafer. His family moved to a farm west of Malcom and he attended the rural schools and Grinnell High School. He was a tank wagon dealer for the Farm Union oil and gas station in Malcom,. and later with Conoco of Grinnell. For a brief period during W.W. II, he was employed at the Maytag Company. Following the War, he was associated with the Conoco service station in Grinnell, retiring in 1976. In recent months he helped at the Pioneer service station. Glenn enjoyed working with his hands, repairing cars, appliances, and building furniture. Glenn was married on November 18, 1936 to Mildred Naomia Johnson at West Des Moines. Survivors include his wife, Naomia; his daughter and son in law: Patricia and Commander Wendell C. McHenry USN, of Ceiba, Puerto Rico; his three grandchildren: Lori Sue and her husband Doug Lane of Jacksonville, Florida; Becky June McHenry of Ft. Lauderdale. Florida; and Mitchell Glenn McHenry of Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Also surviving is a great grandson: Christopher Douglas Lane; and four sisters: Ellen Strawser and Twyla Andes both of Grinnell; Irene Cline of Knoxville; and Ella Florer of Sun City, Arizona. Glen died Wednesday evening, September 24, 1986 of an apparent heart condition at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters; Delmar Schafer, Lilly Hinchliffe, and Wilma Taylor. Officiating the services was Rev. Daniel Ogata, Retired First Presbyterian Minister, Grinnell, Iowa. Interment was atIvy Hill Cemetery, Malcom, Iowa. Obituary was provided with funeral program.
