Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kan., (913) 856-7111. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com Glenn was born Dec. 5, 1923, to Jay Bryan and Blanche Austin Mitchum in Kansas City, Kan. He was a Shawnee Mission High School graduate and earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Fort Hays College. Glenn served with the U.S. Army in Northern France during World War II. Glenn married Gwen Morrissey on August 4, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. He taught in multiple locations in Kansas and served as superintendant in Palco, Kan., from 1965 to 1970. Glenn was then a principal in Sharon, Kan., and Williamsburg, Kan., retiring in 1985. They moved to Gardner in 1996. He loved golf and spending time with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gwen; his siblings, Mary Ellen Wallaert, James Mitchum and half-brother, Louis Chase. Glenn is survived by his son, Scott Bradley Mitchum, and Connie, of Ellinwood; daughter, Susan Kay Jones, and Charles, of Gardner; grandchildren, Benjamin and Jason Mitchum, Kyle Mitchum, Megan Schulz and husband, Kevin, Kevin and Ryan Jones, and stepgrandchildren, Kurt Doll and Aubrey Rapp; and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Austin Schulz. *Source: The Ottawa Herald - April 1, 2009
