Born April 15, 1917, in Campbell County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry and Lassie Hill. He lived his early life in Tennessee. Read More	WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Glenn Eugene Hill, 84, of 311 W. Seventh St., died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at his home. Born April 15, 1917, in Campbell County, Tenn., he was the son of the late Henry and Lassie Hill. He lived his early life in Tennessee. He graduated from high school in Tennessee, then received various advanced degrees: an A.B. degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson County, Tenn.; master of religious education from Southwestern University in Fort Worth, Texas; master of arts degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.; and additional graduate work at the University of Tennessee, University of Mississippi, University of Connecticut, Vanderbilt University, Yale, George Peabody College for Teachers University of Oklahoma and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Submarine Division in the South Pacific Theater, and two years in the Korean War as an information and education officer. Then, he was based with the Submarine Base in New London, Conn. He was discharged from active duty in 1946 and had 16 years in the Naval Reserve, where he served as a division and battalion training officer and division and battalion commanding officer and served with the National Defense Strategy Seminar and the National War College. He was the recipient of various medals and ribbons. He was a special education teacher in Tennessee, then a missionary and later an adult educator, both in high school and college. He also served as a counselor, vice principal and director of Job Corps, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Catoctin, Md.; and a program coordinator for the National Park Service. Prior to retiring in 1982, he was project manager for the Department of Labor, Assistant Regional Director (Job Corps) Department of Labor, and last was the director of Region III Department of Labor. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tennessee, where he served as a deacon. He then was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro. He was a member and past national commander of Holland Club, Phi Beta Kappa and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Waynesboro. He is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Dorothy Hill; one daughter, Carol Hill of Waynesboro; four sons, Jeff Hill, Ron Hill and Dan Hill, all of Waynesboro, and Dave Hill of Chicago; one brother, Morris R. Hill of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Shawn Hill. Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. John F. Huff will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. They will also receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Martin Wilson Funeral Home, LaFollette, Tenn. Burial will be Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery, LaFollette, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, c/o Foundation Treasurer James Strassels, 4134 Harrison St., Chandler, AZ 85226-2163.
