Description	:	Glenn L. Evanson, 84, of Great Falls, a retired elementary school teacher and Army Air Corps veteran, died of natural causes Wednesday at a local nursing home. Glenn Llewellyn Evanson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009. He was born Sept. 8, 1924, to Christen "C.H." and Iveda Evanson on the Evanson family farm near Arnegard, N.D. His parents were Norwegians who homesteaded in western North Dakota. Glenn Llewellyn Evanson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009. He was born Sept. 8, 1924, to Christen "C.H." and Iveda Evanson on the Evanson family farm near Arnegard, N.D. His parents were Norwegians who homesteaded in western North Dakota. He was the sixth of 11 children: older sisters Eleanor, Idella, Phyllis, and Jean, older brothers Jacob, Orvis and Carroll "Kelly", younger sisters Delores and Gloria; and younger brother Gerald. He married Beverly R. Dodge of Watford City, N.D., on June 24, 1962. They moved to Great Falls and had three children. Beverly succumbed to cancer in 1987. He married Edith Cofer on May 22, 1993. He received his bachelor's degree from Pacific Lutheran College (Tacoma, Wash.) in 1951, and a master's degree in education from the University of Montana in Missoula in 1969. For many years he was employed by the Great Falls Public School system, teaching at West Junior High and Loy and McKinley elementary schools, and was an active member of the Great Falls Education Association, NEA. He retired from the school system in 1979, and worked for several years as distribution manager for Consumer's Press. He later worked as a private caretaker for Hiram Dotson and as a driver for developmentally-disadvantaged adult social services in Great Falls, before retiring again in 1988. He was a member of Our Savior's and Faith Lutheran churches for several years before joining St. John Lutheran Church. He suffered declining health in recent years due to heart disease, degenerative neurological disease and Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, a grandson, and 7 siblings. In addition to his first wife, Glenn's parents, his brothers, Jacob and Carroll, and his sister Idella, all preceded him in death.
