Bowman, 73, a long-time resident of Brewster, returned to the arms of his loving savior, Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, following an extended illness. He was born October 22, 1935, in Las Vegas Nev. to Howard and Mildred (Chadburn ) Bowman. Howard Bowman worked as an engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation on Hoover Dam and in 1936 moved to Grand Coulee for the initial construction of Grand Coulee Dam. He was born October 22, 1935, in Las Vegas Nev. to Howard and Mildred (Chadburn ) Bowman. Howard Bowman worked as an engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation on Hoover Dam and in 1936 moved to Grand Coulee for the initial construction of Grand Coulee Dam. He settled with his family in Coulee Dam and Glenn spent his childhood there. He graduated from Coulee Dam High School in 1953 and attended Washington State University for a short period before enlisting in the Air Force. He served in the Korean War as a staff sergeant. He loved his country and gave 10 years of his life serving it. Upon returning to the United States Glenn was stationed at Denver, Colo. On June 5,1954, his high school sweetheart , Gloria Iannetta hopped a train to Denver and they were married. They were stationed at Larson and Fairchild Air Force Bases for the remainder of his duty. He was a true outdoorsman and loved farming, hunting, fishing, camping and horseback riding. His greatest love was his family and he spent as much time as possible with them. He cherished the times that he spent out on their hunting and fishing adventures. Holidays and family gatherings were extremely important to Glenn and you could always find him surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him dearly. Glenn was a very gifted tradesman and spent many years as an union carpenter with Local 2205. He worked on Grand Coulee, Wells and Chief Joseph Dams, at Hanford and Alcoa. For the last 16 years , he worked at the Brewster School District maintenance and custodian departments. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of The Latter-day Saints, Glenn held many responsibilities. He was A counselor In The Branch Presidency, Sunday School president, Physical Facility Coordinator, Priesthood group leader, and High Priest in the Melchizedek Priesthood. He loved his church and church family and was always available for visiting and helping its members. He was a member of the Nation Rifle Association . Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Brewster; five children: Robert and wife Glenda, of Coulee Dam ; Larry and wife Theresa, Brewster; Dan and special friend Lori Barton, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Cindy and husband Arthur Brown, Brewster; Tim and wife Chris, Brewster; brother Ken and wife Eloise, Coulee Dam; two sisters: Connie Babler Coulee Dam; and Sandra and husband Dale Lucero Denver, Colo,; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grand hildren and his very special friend Frank Irvin, Brewster. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray Bowman (1930-1998) , and brother in law Bob Babler (1927-1993) . Services and the celebration of Glenn's life will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 417 South 4th Street, Brewster, Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m., with graveside services to follow at Spring Canyon Cemetery in Grand Coulee. Viewing is scheduled at Barnes Chapel, Friday, Sept. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. and before the service 10 to 11 a.m. in the church Relief Society Room. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
