He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Snedden Barton and his parents, Carl Lee Barton and Sarah Young, and a brother, PFC John V. Barton. He was born February 10, 1936 in Independence, Va. Mr. Barton was a member of Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church, was retired from Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax, Va., was a U. S. Read More	BARTON, Glenn Scott, 61, of Independence, the Grubbs Chapel Community, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 1997 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Snedden Barton and his parents, Carl Lee Barton and Sarah Young, and a brother, PFC John V. Barton. He was born February 10, 1936 in Independence, Va. Mr. Barton was a member of Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church, was retired from Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax, Va., was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of Independence Independent Order of Odd Fellows #258. Surviving are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Madeline Cox, Galax, Sue and James Hash, Christiansburg, Ann and Robert Osborne, Troutville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Irene Barton, Atkins, Fred and Mary Virginia Barton, Kernersville, N.C., J. C. and Lois Barton, Elk Creek; mother-in-law, Margaret Ward Snedden, Richmond; uncle and two aunts, Rev. Brice and Alice Barton, Independence, Vida Lee Barton, Galax; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 22, 1997, at 2 p.m. from the Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church, Independence, Va., with interment in Grubbs Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Rose, the Rev. James Fain, the Rev. Randy Morris and the Rev. Fred E. Jennings are officiating. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., and will be taken to the church thirty minutes preceding services, to lie in state. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night form 7 to 9 p.m. Flowers will be apprec iated or memorial contributions may be made to Grubbs Chapel Baptist Church, Grubbs Chapel Cemetery or the Independence Rescue Squad. The family will be at the home, where friends may call at anytime. Graveside rites will be conducted by Independence Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #258.
