Hornish, 95, Defiance, died at 5:26 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Harborside Healthcare Center. He was born March 28, 1912, in Defiance, the son of John and Elizabeth (Bishop) Hornish. In 1938, he married Edith Becker, who died in 1982. He was a 1930 graduate of Defiance High School and a 1932 graduate of International Business College, Fort Wayne. He was a truck operator and founder and co-owner of Hornish Brothers Trucking and its treasurer, retiring in 1984. He was a member and treasurer of Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren for more than 50 years, where he was also a deacon, a former Sunday school superintendent and teacher. Surviving are two sons, Allen (Linda) of Kenner, La., and Paul, Apache Junction, Ariz.; three daughters, Susan (Frank) Hurtt of Defiance, Sharon Emrick of Williamston, Mich., and Cynthia (Robert) Bradley, Warsaw, Ind.; a sister, Veulah LeFevre, Defiance; and 12 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Richard and Virgil; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren with Rev. Patricia Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Preferred memorials are to the church or a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be left at www.mastmockhoffman.com. Services for Glenn V. Hornish were held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, in Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren with Rev. Patricia Meeks officiating. Burial was in Popular Ridge Cemetery. Music was by Lois and Denny Hornish and Mary Nofzinger. Pallbearers were Greg and Jeff Hornish, Steve Hurtt, Derek Bradley, Ben Emrick and Pat Arnold. Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home handled arrangements.
