Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines where friends may call after 10:00 a.m., burial will follow at Mitchellville Cemetery, Mitchellville, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines where friends may call after 10:00 a.m., burial will follow at Mitchellville Cemetery, Mitchellville, IA. Glenna was born January 2, 1924, daughter of the late Herbert and Zoe (Strombeck) Stamper. She received her education in the Des Moines schools and graduated from East High School. She was united in marriage to Roy Hayward Knight on June 2, 1947 in New York City. They made their home in various locations until 1958 when they settled in Des Moines and was proud to have lived in her home for over 50 years. Glenna was employed in the food service department for the Des Moines Schools until her retirement. In free times she enjoyed gardening, being outside especially her trips to Jester Park to watch the eagles and also enjoyed attending her granddaughter’s schools activities when she was able. She was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1978, a sister Velma Engebretsen, brother Marshall Stamper, and her “beloved dog Toby”. Glenna is survived by three children; Linda ( Jim) Morse of Brookline, MA, Donna Knight-Donovan and Ray (Kristin Maahs) Knight both of Des Moines, four granddaughters, Chelsea Donovan of Des Moines, Addie Knight of Des Moines, Lindsey Morse of Denver, CO and Olivia Knight of Des Moines. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff at Calvin Community. A special thank you to Hazel for always making our Mom look beautiful.
