Glenna Mae Lewis was born on September 28, 1932, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (Ethrington) Lewis in Fowler, Colorado. At age six, the family moved to Iowa. She attended country school near Zearing, Iowa, and graduated from Zearing High School in 1951 as Class Salutatorian. Glenna received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) and taught school in Laurel and Hubbard School Districts. In 1955, Glenna married Murray Carver and they raised three children in Marshalltown. Glenna left the teaching profession to raise her children and later worked for Fisher Controls for a number of years. In 1978, Murray and Glenna moved to the Dallas, Texas, area as part of the Lennox Industries corporate relocation and Glenna worked for Lennox in Dallas for many years. Murray and Glenna later divorced. After retiring from Lennox in 1997, Glenna moved back to Marshalltown. In retirement, Glenna loved tending to her vegetable garden, growing beautiful flowers, preparing wonderful meals, and spoiling her grandchildren, who were the love of her life. Glenna is survived by three children, Rodney Carver of Batavia, Illinois, Douglas (Rhonda) Carver of Des Moines, Iowa, and Suzanne (Tom) Mead of rural Marshalltown; seven grandchildren; great grandchildren; one brother, Earl (Sharon) Lewis of Urbandale, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Betty Rench; and brothers Chuck, Raymond, Eugene, and Kenny Lewis. Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown.
