Read More	Glenna (Schauer) Fouberg was born September 1, 1942 to Andrew and Lydia (Jenner) Schauer at St. Luke's in Aberdeen where she passed away on January 5, 2021. She was raised in Ashley, North Dakota and graduated from Ashley High School in 1960. She earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education in 1963 from Northern State University and a master's degree in counseling from South Dakota State University in 1968. During her career, Glenna taught at Eielson AFB-Alaska and in Sisseton, Bristol, Webster and Aberdeen. Shortly after moving to Sisseton, she met the love of her life. Rodney and Glenna were married on July 31, 1965. The two enjoyed over 55 years of marriage full of learning, joy and love. They traveled throughout the United States and internationally. Glenna was most passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren, to whom she is known as Mimi. She was happiest in a desk at the back of a classroom at Margaret's debate, on the sidelines of Henry's tennis match, in the audience during Abigail's theatre performance, and in the bleachers at Andrew's baseball game – all while knitting. Glenna thrived on human interaction and everyone she met became a friend. Hundreds of people use a dishcloth, towel, blanket or apron she made or have eaten her salsa, pickles or pretzel mints. These gifts were Glenna's way of telling people they were loved and respected. Glenna had a strong mind and a stronger heart. She was intimidated by no one. She saw the value in everyone. She met people where they were, marshaled resources to assist them and provided the discipline and guidance necessary for their success. She abhorred bureaucracy, and in the spirit of helping people believed more strongly in seeking forgiveness than she did in asking permission. Testimonials abound as to how Glenna bettered lives by instilling self-confidence and encouraging each individual to set their own path. Glenna is survived by her husband, Rodney; two sons, Robert (Erin) and Daniel (Nancy); four grandchildren, Margaret, Henry, Abigail and Andrew; brothers-in-law Stanley (Sharon) Fouberg and Harvey (Karen) Fouberg; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Margaret Ann; her parents, Andrew and Lydia Schauer; brother, Herbert (Mary) Schauer; her two sisters, Emily (Leo) Feiock and Ruby (Marvin) Sukut; her mother- and father-in-law, Omer and Lucile Fouberg; and her brother-in-law, Dennis Fouberg. A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday January 9th, and a public celebration of Glenna's life is anticipated this summer.
