Gleora was born on February 24, 1938, in Bremer County, Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Esther (Westendorf) Buls. She was baptized by Rev. Karl Pfeiffer, March 27, 1938, and confirmed April 6, 1952, by Rev. Victor Weidler at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, Siegel. Attended country school one quarter mile from her home. Read More	Gleora Ann "Glee" Ball, age 83, of Waverly, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Gleora was born on February 24, 1938, in Bremer County, Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Esther (Westendorf) Buls. She was baptized by Rev. Karl Pfeiffer, March 27, 1938, and confirmed April 6, 1952, by Rev. Victor Weidler at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, Siegel. Attended country school one quarter mile from her home. After country school, she attended and graduated from Waverly High School in 1956. After being a nanny for several years for a family in Waterloo and Waverly, she went to work in Plainfield and New Hampton candling eggs for several egg companies. She then went to work for the Home Shopping Network in Waterloo, retiring in 2003. She met Marlin O. Ball and they were married November 3, 1962, at St. John United Church of Christ-Siegel, on an unusually warm November afternoon. They lived in New Hampton for many years before moving to her parents' home farm in Douglas Township, Bremer County, when her parents moved into Waverly. After her parent's death, she and Marlin moved into her parents' Waverly home where they continued to live until her death. Glee was a very social person and enjoyed visiting with people. She had a remarkable memory and if you wanted to know something, she was the "go to" person. She and Marlin enjoyed many years with the Chickasaw County Historical Society in Nashua. They also enjoyed ceramic work and crafting shows. A good number of people have a ceramic Christmas tree that was made by the Balls. In their earlier days, they enjoyed square dancing. Gleora's memory is honored by her husband, Marlin; a sister, Joyce Schachtner of Des Moines; nephew, Curt (Beth) Schachtner and son, Colby of Augusta, Georgia; nephew, Robert (Ellen Drewett) Schachtner and sons, Tate and Arlo of Cleveland, Ohio; numerous cousins; and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer in 1977 and Esther in 2000. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel, rural Waverly, Iowa from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel. Burial will follow at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ Kaiser Corson Funeral Homes
