Read More	In Memory of Gloria Lindaman... Gloria was born the only daughter of Harm and Ida Muller on August 12, 1936. She graduated from Aplington High School in 1954. After graduation, she attended the Iowa State Teachers College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa (UNI)) in Cedar Falls, received a teaching certificate and became a licensed elementary teacher in the state of Iowa. She later received her B.A. in teaching, also from UNI. She began her elementary teaching career in Alden, Iowa in 1956, and shortly thereafter taught in Clear Lake, Iowa. In the early 1960s, she taught 3rd grade in Parkersburg, Iowa, where she lived at the time. On August 10, 1962, Gloria married Joe Edwin Van Eschen. After their son Bradley was born in 1964, Gloria put her teaching career on hold. Joe died suddenly and unexpectedly on June 11, 1965, and Gloria and her son moved back to Aplington soon thereafter. On May 6, 1967, Gloria married David John Lindaman in the Aplington Baptist Church. The family made their home in the town of Aplington. Gloria was a member of the Aplington Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, led bible studies, and helped on many church committees over the years. Gloria had a very strong faith and was confident in her eternity. On her break from full time teaching, Gloria helped her in-laws on the Lindaman farm in rural Ackley. In particular, she often drove a tractor, hauling loads from the field during harvest, and occasionally helped cultivate during the summer. In addition, Gloria would periodically serve as one of the caretakers for Betty Patet, in the church parsonage. She was a substitute teacher at Aplington elementary. Gloria loved to play golf and her big, unique backswing could be spotted from several holes away. Gloria enjoyed playing in golf leagues in Parkersburg and Aplington in late 60’s thru the early 90s. The fall of 1976 marked Gloria’s return to teaching full time. She taught 4th grade in Aplington until her retirement in the spring of 1995. In her retirement, she and David enjoyed many trips to Minnesota visiting family and vacationing with friends at a fishing resort near Grand Rapids. She also enjoyed her daily walks around Aplington, and coffee outings, afternoon cards, and frequent trips with her friends. Gloria valued the many great friendships she developed through teaching, the church, and the community and she treasured the time spent with her many friends. Also in her retirement, Gloria volunteered with the “Meals on Wheels” program in Aplington, delivering prepared meals to shut-ins. She received much satisfaction and enjoyment from this and looked forward to doing this on many weekdays. Gloria was a proud mother and grandmother and loved showing pictures of her family to anyone showing interest. Since September of 2016, Gloria was a resident of the Grand JiVanté senior care facility in Ackley, Iowa. She was known there for her never-ending smile, warm demeanor, and cheerfulness. Her husband, David, was by her side each and every day in the nearly 2 ½ years she lived there. Gloria passed away on February 24, 2019, at the age of 82, under the kind and gentle care of hospice and the compassionate Grande JiVanté staff. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Ida Muller, and her brothers, Wayne Muller, Virgil Muller, and Ken Muller. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, David; one son, Brad (Susie) of Prior Lake, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Gabe, Garrett, and Abby; and two sisters-in-law, Francis Muller of Bloomington, MN, and Linda Muller of Des Moines, IA. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at Aplington Baptist Church in Aplington with burial at Pleasant View Cemetery both Aplington. Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aplington Baptist Church and 1 hour prior to funeral services at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Care Initiatives Hospice, Village Creek Bible Camp, Student Connection in Aplington.
