Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Christopher Hazzard officiating. Burial will be at Minden Cemetery. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of the arrangements. Gloria was born on June 27, 1927, in Minden to Martin “Joe” and Isabel (Nelson) Kauffelt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minden. She graduated from Minden High School. Gloria took great pride in the war effort to do her part during World War II by typing at the Kearney Army Air Field. She was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On April 4, 1948, she married Donald Vannier at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minden. She was so proud to have been married at the Lutheran Church in Pioneer Village. They lived in Kearney shortly after their marriage. They moved to Lexington and later to Gothenburg where Don and Gloria owned and operated Vannier Ford. They retired in Minden. Gloria was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden, the Gothenburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Red Cross organization and church circles and would gladly give her time to volunteer when called. Survivors include her son, Lonnie Vannier and wife Diana of Minden; and two daughters, Deb Johnson and husband Scott of Valley and Tami Ellis and husband Mike of Hutchinson, Kan. She was “Grammy” to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include two sisters, Joanne Lammers and husband Ralph and Patty Osterbuhr and husband Gene. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; and a great-grandson, Triston.
