Description	:	Gloria D. Behle, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 4:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Interment will be on Monday, March 25, at 9:00 AM in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral and continue on Saturday from 3:00 PM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 3:45 PM at the church. In... Read More	Gloria D. Behle, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 4:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Interment will be on Monday, March 25, at 9:00 AM in the Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral and continue on Saturday from 3:00 PM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 3:45 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Lutheran Hour, Daily Devotions, or Immanuel Lutheran Church. Please join the family for fellowship after the funeral in the great room at Brookestone, where we can also visit with residents, family and staff - many of whom are great friends. If you wish to donate food items, bars and desserts would be welcome and can be dropped off at Brookestone prior to the service or when you join us for the fellowship time. Gloria D. Behle was born December 26, 1928, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Wilhelm and Johanna (Hellbusch) Maurer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church (12.5 miles north). Gloria graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1946 and was united in marriage to Wilbert Behle at St. John's Lutheran Church on December 26, 1954. Gloria helped on the farm all her life, enjoyed flowers and beauty of nature as well as traveling, sewing, needlework, crocheting rag rugs, drawing and playing Chinese checkers. She was a gardener, cook and provided well for her family, and spent time canning many fruits and vegetables. She had a very green thumb. Any flower would grow for her, even in the middle of the lawn. Gloria also had a love for animals, especially cats and birds, and the wild turkeys at her farm place. Her last cat on her farm, "Tiger" gave her many years of companionship and enjoyment. She often cuddled with Kitty who was with her until she went home. Gloria was "grandma" to many of the staff at Brookestone Acres, where she lived the last 4.5 years of her life, enjoying the activities (especially noodle ball) and the weekly chapel services. She had many giggles with staff and they loved her. She was strong minded, determined, knew how she wanted things and very competitive. Gloria loved her kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and any of their school activities and sporting events. She missed them dearly and often reminded us to hold them on our laps as much as we could.
