Born on October 15, 1926 in Manchester, MD, she was the daughter of the late Claude Lamar and Treva Zumbrun Hoffman. She was the wife of the late John William "Bill" Armacost who passed away in 1975. Years ago, Gloria was a cafeteria assistant for Carroll County Public Schools. She was also a supervisor at the Social Security Administration. Read More	Gloria Ellen Armacost, 91, of Hampstead, MD passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born on October 15, 1926 in Manchester, MD, she was the daughter of the late Claude Lamar and Treva Zumbrun Hoffman. She was the wife of the late John William "Bill" Armacost who passed away in 1975. Years ago, Gloria was a cafeteria assistant for Carroll County Public Schools. She was also a supervisor at the Social Security Administration. Gloria was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she played the piano for their Saturday night church services. She was also an organist while attending Christ Lutheran Church in Upperco, MD. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she loved watching blue birds in her backyard, watching "Dancing with the Stars", and enjoyed spending fun times and holidays with family and many wonderful friends. Surviving her are children: Barbara E. Guthrie and husband Steve of Westminster, MD, and Deborah J. Armacost of Reisterstown, MD, grandchildren: Michael Shipley, Marcus Shipley, Laura Thompson, Jessica Antonakos, Samuel Guthrie, and Nathaniel Armacost, great grandchildren: Mikayla Shipley, Adam Antonakos, and Alyssa Antonakos. She is also survived by a sister Nancy Williams of Fairbanks, AK. She was predeceased by a son: Robert L. Shipley, siblings: Henry Hoffman, Robert L. Hoffman, and Henrietta Waugh. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD, and on Saturday, May 19, from 10 – 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street, Manchester, MD, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment to follow in New Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester, MD. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, PO Box 739, Manchester, MD 21102 or Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
