Description	:	Gloria Jean Brown, the daughter of Merle Harter and Edna (Olesen) Stutzman was born in Harlan on Dec. 19, 1932. She attended school in Harlan, and graduated from Harlan high school with the class of 1951. On July 10,1951, she married Duane Brown in Taos, N.M. Three sons were born to this union. For the last ten years, she had been employed by the Embers Restaurant in... Read More	Gloria Jean Brown, the daughter of Merle Harter and Edna (Olesen) Stutzman was born in Harlan on Dec. 19, 1932. She attended school in Harlan, and graduated from Harlan high school with the class of 1951. On July 10,1951, she married Duane Brown in Taos, N.M. Three sons were born to this union. After their marriage, they farmed east of Harlan. They moved to their present farm in 1973, and this has been their home since that time. For the last ten years, she had been employed by the Embers Restaurant in Avoca. She died Dec. 28,1986 at Bishop Clarkson hospital in Omaha, NE., just nine days after her 54th birthday. She was a member of the Monroe chapel United Methodist church. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronnie, and a sister, Nadine. She is survived by her husband, Duane of Harlan; two sons, Rick of Harlan and Randy of Ames; two grandsons; her mother, Edna (Mrs Dale) Brown of Harlan; two brothers, Earl Stutzman of Dallas, TX., and Richard Stutzman of Topeka, KS.; nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Dec. 31,1986 at Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan with Pastor George Gibson of the First United Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Paul Schroder, James Nauman, Robert L. Arnold, LeRoy Tichota, Charles Grabill and Richard Petersen serving as casketbearers. Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of arrangements.
