She was born May 6, 1923 at rural North Bend to Benjamin and Matilda (Rodewald) Spies. She grew up in the North Bend area and graduated North Bend High School in 1940. She attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and received her degree in education in 1970. She was born May 6, 1923 at rural North Bend to Benjamin and Matilda (Rodewald) Spies. She grew up in the North Bend area and graduated North Bend High School in 1940. She attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and received her degree in education in 1970. Gloria taught at rural schools in Dodge and Saunders Counties and the last 25 years of her career at Cotterell Elementary at North Bend. Gloria Spies married Rolyne A. Kammerer October 3, 1944 at North Bend. He died October 14, 2004. The couple farmed for 40 years east of North Bend. They moved to Fremont in January 1987. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Fremont and served as a deacon. She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church at North Bend. She taught Sunday school and Bible school. Gloria was also a 4-H Leader. Survivors include: daughters – Mignon and husband, Joe Vojtech and Nancy and husband, David Cecil all of Omaha, NE; sister - Mary Lou and husband Jerry Ullrich of Cincinnati, OH; brother - Lonnie Spies of Schuyler, NE; 4 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; 2 sisters - Naomi Nevius & Muriel Groeteke; and 1 brother - Bernard Spies. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 23rd, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, April 22nd from 4 PM to 8 PM and Sat. 9 AM to 10 AM: with family receiving friends on Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM all at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery, Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution to Gloria's favorite charities. Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont is in charge of arrangements. 402-721-4490
