Born in Wenona, she was a daughter of the late Walton Henry Tawes and Mabel Mae Daniels Tawes. Her late husband was Norman A. Benton, who died in 2001. Mrs. Benton was a homemaker and a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Wenona. She had also attended Faith Independent Church in Wenona. She is survived by three sons, Clifton Benton and his wife, Wanda, of Wenona, Walton Benton and his wife, Linda, of Mount Vernon and Delmas Benton and his wife, Vicki, of Dames Quarter; and two daughters, Donna White of Chance and Bonnie Muir and her husband, Mike, of Princess Anne. She is also survived by grandchildren, Arthur Benton, Angela McCoy, Lisa Fortune, Karen White, Walt Benton Jr., Delmas Benton Jr., Erica Benton, Jenna Benton, Jesse White, Jacob White, Winter White, Mindy Bernhardt, Michelle Muir and Mike Muir Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Luke, Lauren, Chelsie, Brooke, Maddie, Gabe, Jessica, Brooke, Chad, Colton, Olivia, Sarah, Scottie and Mackenzie. She is also survived by a sister, Edwina Tawes Parkinson, and a brother, Larry Tawes, both of Salisbury; as well as several nieces and nephews. A late sister was Olivia Tawes Donalds. Late brothers were David and Delmas Webster. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St Pauls United Methodist Church in Wenona, where friends may call from 1-2 p.m. The Rev. Linwood "Sonny" Benton and the Rev. Lloyd Foard will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
