McCall, daughter of Mansfield and Clarissa Simpson, was born at York, Nebraska, June 20, 1885, and passed away at the home of her son, Seldon McCall of Hermiston, Oregon, on July 14, 1961 at the age of 76 years and 24 days. Her passing came as a shock to her relatives and friends, as she was visiting in Oregon and Idaho. Her youth was spent in and around Bridgewater and Fontanelle. She was married August 9, 1903, to James Harlan McCall at the Christian Church in Bridgewater. To this union 10 children were born whom are all left to mourn her passing. They made their home in Washington township until 1907 when they moved to Valley and Sherman counties in Nebraska where they resided for 31 years. Here was where the family was raised. In March of 1938 the family returned to Iowa to a farm southwest of Bridgewater, where they resided until 1946 when they retired to Fontanelle and made their home until Mr. McCall's death in 1950. She then moved to Bridgewater where her remaining days were spent; the greater portion in an apartment at the Albert Stuva home, where their special attention made her remaining day very enjoyable. She was a member of the Bridgewater Methodist Church, and the G.A.R. Lodge at Fontanelle. She is survived by the following children: Clarissa Emgarten of Adair, Iowa; W.R. (Bill) McCall of Hermiston, Oregon; Alma Leininger of Arcadia, Nebraska; Seldon McCall of Hermiston, Oregon; Cecil McCall of Ord, Nebraska; J.A. (Lonnie) McCall of Nampa, Idaho; Louis McCall of Bridgewater, Iowa; Alvin McCall of Hermiston, Oregon; Clayton McCall of Fontanelle, Iowa; Carl McCall of Fontanelle, Iowa; and a brother Clark Simpson of Myrtle Creek, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, her husband, a sister, Alice, and a brother, Jess. She will be greatly missed by her children, her 36 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Bridgewater Methodist Church. Interment was in the Avondale cemetery. Contributor: Kathy Burr
