Description	:	Goldie Alice Haase was born March 17, 1937, in Grandma and Grandpa Mueller's home to John and Hilda (Mueller) Haase. Grandma wanted to name her Patricia since she was born on St. Patrick's Day, but she was christened Goldie. She has two brothers, Marvin and Morris. She grew up on the Haase homestead and attended country school two miles north of the family farm. Grandma wanted to name her Patricia since she was born on St. Patrick's Day, but she was christened Goldie. She has two brothers, Marvin and Morris. She grew up on the Haase homestead and attended country school two miles north of the family farm. Grandma and Grandpa special-ordered a blonde upright piano for Goldie and she learned to play on that piano. She also remembered when they got their first television. Goldie married David Plocek June 26th, 1960, at Ebenezer Congregational Church. The Reverend Emil Hansen officiated. They moved to the Plocek family farm that David grew up on south of Thunder Hawk, SD, for a brief time. Shortly thereafter they settled in Thunder Hawk, SD. Three daughters, Jeralyn, JaRae, and Jodi were born from 1962 to 1967. In 1976, they built a house on farm acreage in Thunder Hawk. She worked hard on the farm raising large gardens, hogs, cattle, and the endless housework of keeping a family moving forward. For some years she taught a children's Sunday School class at the Lemmon Church of God and performed some Sunday clerical duties. She and Grandma Haase spent many hours sewing clothes for her girls and sewing Barbie Doll clothes for their dolls. Many times through the years she and Grandma Haase, and in the early years, Great Grandma Mueller, would get together and bake sweet rolls, pies, cookies, strudels, and kuchen. They also canned large amounts of peaches, pickles, jellies, and a myriad other things. She crocheted tablecloths and afghans and made pillowcases with crocheted accents. In the 1970's, she began working in restaurants in Lemmon, SD. Later she worked for Katie and Joe Meier at their Coast to Coast hardware store into the 1980's. She especially loved Joe and Katie and working for them. In 1996, she relocated to Sturgis, SD, where she spent the next years working at a hardware store and later in a food factory. A focus of Goldie's life was her personal relationship with Christ. She tried her best to point her family back to the straight and narrow path when they strayed. She continued to read her Bible throughout her life. She especially loved books by Ruth Graham, Billy Graham's daughter, and books by Pastor David Jeremiah. She, like all of us, didn't follow Christ flawlessly, but she did the best she understood. With that said, the rest of us will be called to give an account of our lives to Jesus. "This is the God to whom we must each give an account" (Romans 14:12). Goldie went into Paradise suddenly on Thursday, October 7th, 2021. Now that she's gone, we're sad for the separation, but "we do not grieve as those who have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Jesus said to the thief on the cross next to him who repented "Today you will be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43). Goldie is free now from multiple decades of health issues and is now safe in heaven. Her daughters are steadfast in this greatest of all hopes. We will be reunited with her again and with all those we love who trust in Jesus alone for salvation. We shouldn't focus on her passing from this earth. We "take our thoughts captive" (2 Corinthians 10:5). We think on "whatever is true, whatever is noble, what is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable" (Philippians 4:8). Goldie passed from this life on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the age of 84 years, 6 months, 20 days. Goldie is survived by her daughters, Jodi (Kyle) Mathis, Spearfish, SD; JaRae (Doug) Faul, Pleasanton, TX; and Jeralyn (Darrel) Koupal, Redondo Beach, CA; two grandsons, Brady and Bryce Faul; 2 brothers, Marvin (Betty) Haase, Lemmon, SD; and Morris (Marcy) Haase, New Leipzig, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Goldie in death are her father, John Haase, in 1999 and her mother, Hilda in 2004. We want to say a special thank you to everyone who has helped in any way with Goldie's farewell celebration. The Funeral Service for Goldie A. Haase, age 84 of Sturgis will be held at 11:00am MT on Thursday October 14, 2021 at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin. Pastor Ed Zimmerman will officiate with burial in Hope Congregational Cemetery in Elgin. A time of fellowship and a luncheon will follow at Hope Congregational Church. Special music will be provided by Marci Haase, soloist. Serving as casketbearers are her Family and Friends. "I'm standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She's an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and the sky come down to mingle with each other. And then I hear someone at my side saying, "There, she's gone." Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There, she's gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and there are other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that is dying.
