Goldie Mae Henrichs Woltz was born October 2, 1932 in Greene County, Iowa. She was the daughter of James Edgar Henrichs and Frona Mae Piatt Henrichs. Goldie was raised in Boxholm, Iowa with six brothers and one sister. Goldie attended school in Paton until eighth grade and then graduated in Boxholm in the spring of 1951. After high school, Goldie moved in with her sister and worked. Goldie met her husband, Weldon, in Grand Junction when he came into the restaurant where she worked. They got married on November 11, 1951. Goldie and Weldon were the parents of three children: Connie, Collette, and Curtis. Goldie stayed home with the kids and would bake items to sell and babysit. Goldie and Weldon enjoyed dancing and playing cards, and spending time with the grandkids. Goldie and Weldon enjoyed traveling. They traveled with Weldon’s mother and then young son, Curtis, to Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and California. Other trips included visiting Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL, and further travels to Nashville, TN, Branson, MO, and Colorado. Goldie and Weldon traveled to Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1982 when Curtis graduated basic training in the United States Army. One of Goldie’s favorite vacations was to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where Curtis was stationed. The Woltz family took yearly family vacations to a cabin at Lake Okoboji. They also celebrated many 4th of July’s in Gowrie. Christmas dinners with the Henrich’s side of the family were held at the Grand Junction Legion Hall and both the old and the new Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction. Goldie and Weldon and the family attended many annual Henrichs reunions. The Woltz family enjoyed breakfast cookouts with the Ostranders at Spring Lake. Saturday nights were spent as a family, watching Lawrence Welk on TV. Goldie enjoyed morning coffees at different ladies homes in the community. She loved to send and receive greeting cards. Goldie Woltz passed away April 26, 2017 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Greene County Medical Center. She was 84 years of age. Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon, who died May 4, 2001; her parents, James and Frona Henrichs; brothers and sister: Lodelle (Doc), Marie, Leon, Harold (Bill), Dean, Keith (Shorty), and Virgil. Goldie was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Ransom Cummings in 2013. Survivors include her children: Connie (Danny) Wehmeyer of Grand Junction, IA; Collette (Lanny) Lewis of Jefferson, IA; and Curtis (Rhonda) Woltz of Grand Junction, IA; six grandchildren: Craig Wehmeyer, Chad Cummings, Chris Wehmeyer, Casey Barnett, Talia Woltz, and Kendra Woltz; 11 great-grandchildren: Jordan Wehmeyer, Mackenna Wehmeyer, Bryant Wehmeyer, Arizona Bunn, Mina Cummings, Levi Cummings, Zion Cummings, Katherine Barnett, Eleanor Barnett, Cash Anderson, and Griffin McClendon; sister-in-law, Dorothy Henrichs of Boxholm, IA; other relatives and many friends. Memorials in her name may be given to the family.
