She was born on May 26, 1919, in Luray, Virginia and was a daughter of the late James Joshua Wood and Mary Kibler Wood. Goldie had worked for the Luray Caverns Corporation as a clerk and was a member of the Rileyville Baptist Church. On September 18, 1942, she married Leonard Oswell Viands in Elkton, Virginia, who died on July 6, 1968. Goldie had worked for the Luray Caverns Corporation as a clerk and was a member of the Rileyville Baptist Church. On September 18, 1942, she married Leonard Oswell Viands in Elkton, Virginia, who died on July 6, 1968. She is survived by three sons, Robert, Billy and Gary Viands, all of Rileyville; two granddaughters, Melissa Painter and husband Jimmy of Stanley, and Ruth Viands and companion Brandon Smoot of Rileyville; two grandsons, Billy Viands and wife April, and Lee Viands and wife Erin, all of Rileyville; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Conner of Stanley. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Verlin Wood and Freida Frye. A funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Rileyville Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Ellis. Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rileyville Baptist Church
