On Wednesday, June 24th, at nine o'clock a.m., occured the death of Goodwin Benson, who was a much respected young man, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley B Benson, living at Petersburg. On Wednesday, June 24th, at nine o'clock a.m., occured the death of Goodwin Benson, who was a much respected young man, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley B Benson, living at Petersburg. For the last three years Goodwin had not enjoyed the best of health, but it was not until the last four monthe that the terrible diease of tuberculosis gaind the upper hand and was gradually calling him to the Great Beyond. Goodwin was born in Petersburg township September 12, 1893, where he grew to manhood. After having finished the district school of Petersburg he spent one year in the academic department of St. Olaf College at Northfield, and one year at the agricultural college at St. Paul, Minn. He was compelled, however, to give up his agricaltural studies and return home, where he was given every possible attention, but finally he became confined to his bed up to the time of his death. Besides a mother, father and brother, the deceased leaves a large circle of friends who join in sympathy with the bereaved family. Among those from far away who attended the Benson funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wright and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jacobsen, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Benson, from Cylinder, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Spurrier and son, from Fairfax, Iowa; Mrs. Shatz, of New Richmond, N.D.; Dr. and Mrs. I.S. Benson, Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Sathe and son, Oscar; Mrs. Hughes Parker, from Murdock, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Myhre, Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Leen, Christ Asley and Thea Leen of Belmont. *The Spirit Lake Beacon, July 2, 1914 ------------
