Description	:	Gorden E. Reier, 95, of Fremont died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Fremont Area Medical Center. Gorden was born April 18, 1915, in Fremont to Charles and Sadie (Rubley) Reier. He grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. A few months after high school, Gorden joined the U.S. Navy. Gorden was born April 18, 1915, in Fremont to Charles and Sadie (Rubley) Reier. He grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. A few months after high school, Gorden joined the U.S. Navy. He served a total of 11 years, after having been discharged and then called back. He saw duty in the South Pacific, and as a chief petty officer he served aboard the aircraft carriers, the Saratoga and the Lexington. Gorden married Dorothy Manzel on Sept. 16, 1951, and Fremont was their home. Dorothy preceded Gorden in death in January 2005. Gorden was for many years a construction superintendent for Carlstrom Brothers Construction Co. in Fremont. He also had done some home construction on his own and also had a saw sharpening business. And for many years, he was active with the volunteer fire department. Gorden was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting. And he was a motorcycle enthusiast, particularly with Indian motorcycles. Survivors include: a daughter, Lori Schaefer of Watonga, Okla.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Oliver, Bryan (and wife, Melanie) Schaefer and Aaron Schaefer, all of Watonga, and Michael Schaefer of Nashville, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Teddy Garcia, Abigail Oliver, Blade Oliver, Destynee Oliver and Chyann Schaefer; a sister, Marguerite Smith of Fremont; special friend, Jean Groff of Morse Bluff; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the mortuary with t he family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery with military honors presented by the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854.
