Grant, 84, of 2823 8th Ave., S., a retired sales manager and World War II Army Air Corps veteran, died of natural causes Friday at a local skilled care center. His memorial service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years; 3 sons; a daughter a sister; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Gordon was born March 20, 1921 in Andover, Mass. He graduated from Punchard High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served with the 8th Air Force 306 Bomb group stationed in Thurleigh, England. He flew in 30 missions over Europe as a flight engineer/top turret gunner on B-17s. He was awarded the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and a Presidential Unit Citation. Gordon traveled through Montana during his military training and loved it. After his discharge from the Army Air Corps in October of 1945, he moved to Great Falls, where he met and married Genevieve (Sundquist) Guthrie on July 2, 1953. He worked for Graham and Ross for many years, traveling throughout Montana selling agricultural chemicals and power equipment for the wholesale division. He then worked eight years as general manager for the Consumer Press. He especially enjoyed getting to know his clients and preparing advertising layouts for print media. Gordon was a 50-year member of the Elks, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren at the family cabin he and Genevieve built at Holter Lake.
