He became a child of God through his faith in baptism and confirmation at the Hesper Lutheran Church. He received his education at the Rotvold School. On January 31, 1953 he married Elsie Bronner. They are the parents of four children LuAnn , Dean, Lori, and Betsy. They farmed the home place and have remained there since.
