Gordon died Monday, December 26, 2005 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha. Gordon E. Gentzler was born to Gurney and Mabel (Sorensen) Gentzler on May 9, 1932 in Homer. He moved to Creighton at the age of seven and attended Creighton Public Schools. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Midland Lutheran College and later received his Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska. Gorden married Beverly J. Finch on June 1, 1952 at Creighton and served as First Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably dischargd in August of 1956. They lived in Neligh, Tilden, Sutton and Tekamah. Gordon taught Social Studies, Elementary P.E. and coached basketball, football and track for thirty-five years, the last twenty-seven years being at Tekamah-Herman Schools. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Lions Club, American Legion and the Nebraska Coaches Association. He was an avid golfer and a track starter for many area track meets. Survivors include his wife; sister, Leola Stingley of Norfolk; brothers, Dale and Eldora Gentzler of Blair, Stanley and Audrey Gentzler of Cozad and Roger and Alice Gentzler of Norfolk; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Tyler of Creighton and Karol and Art Sufficool of Crofton, J.R. and Jeanne Finch of Lincoln; seven Godchildren, many nieces and nephews.
