Description	:	March 4, 1928-August 1, 2018 GARNER -- Gordon Earl Quintus, 90, of Ventura died Wednesday (August 1, 2018) at the Concord Care Center in Garner. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday (August 7, 2018) at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N 4th Street, Clear Lake, with Reverend Al Berge officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday (August 6, 2018) at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th Street, Clear Lake, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Gordon Earl Quintus was born on March 4, 1928 in Garner, Iowa to Earl and Ruby (Radloff) Quintus. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1947. Gordon was drafted into the United States Army in 1951, and after serving in the Korean Conflict, was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Sharon Molencamp on July 30,1954 and to this union, they were blessed with two children, John and Jody. Gordon worked for Northern Natural for 13 years and Clear Lake Telephone Company for 24 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Ventura School Board for 24 years, the Ventura Methodist Church, serving in various offices within the church and the Ventura Fire Department for 20 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson. In his free time he could be found solving the world's problems at “coffee time,” woodworking or taking care of the house. Gordon was very social, never meeting a stranger. He taught his children the importance of education and a good work ethic. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Quintus, Ventura; his children, John (Kim) Quintus, Ventura and Jody (Doug) Hawley, Clive; his grandchildren, Alexa Quintus, Clear Lake, Joshua Hawley, Clear Lake, and Rachel Hawley, Clive; his great-grandson, Jackson Earl Quintus; his sister, Betty Aldinger, Hampton; his brother, Bill (Donna) Quintus, Apple Valley, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruby (Radloff) Quintus, his brother, Warren (Betty) Quintus, his sister, Ivanell (George) Seeberger, and his brother-in-law, Rex Aldinger.
