Also remembered by his children's mother Betty Gingrich and her family. He was predeceased by his parents Ozias and Naomi, brother Newton and wife Mary, sister Vietta Oshiro and an infant daughter. He was born in Guernsey SK, on August 13, 1928. At an early age his family moved to Elmira ON. In 1966 he moved his wife and children to Steinbach MB, and three years later they settled in Gimli. In December 2008 he and Mary Anne moved to Cedar Lodge in Teulon where they made many new friends. Dad was an entrepreneur; he ran various businesses throughout his life. His career started with an Auto Body Shop followed by numerous grocery stores, and at last he found his passion, his bus company Lakefront Charters. Gordon had an interest in politics and for several years was the Reeve of Waterloo County and in 1964 at the age of 36 he became the youngest Warden of Waterloo County ON. As a founding member of the Kiwanis Club of Gimli and District, he enjoyed many years of serving his club and community. He was also involved with the Masons and Shriners, and was proud of being a Circus Daddy. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church in Gimli with Pastor R. David Lowe officiating. Luncheon will follow in the Church basement. Honorary Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law Sandy Prise, Les Schoonmaker, Dan Goray and friends Mike Walchuk and Wayne Campbell. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and nursing staff of Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for their compassion and kindness over the last ten months. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to SW District Palliative Care Box 1282 Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0, or to a charity of your choice. There is only one happiness in life; to love and to be loved.
