He lived in Mahone Bay ,Lunenburg ,County in Nova Scotia on Main Street with his sister ,mother and father. FAG #154012840. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gordon Murray Schnare at age 9 was asked almost weekly to be a drummer in whatever Marching Band ,military or otherwise that was performing in Lunenburg or Annapolis Counties Nova Scotia . He lived in Mahone Bay ,Lunenburg ,County in Nova Scotia on Main Street with his sister ,mother and father. Around the same age around 1923,he was also a messenger in the town wearing a military looking cap ,while doing this .He would run (on foot )written messages from one person to another in Mahone Bay and be paid for it . From 1913 until 1962 he lived in The Schnare Family Home on Main Street . It is the house next to the Post Office ,on the left when facing The Mahone Bay Post Office.In 1962 the Family House was sold . He attended Mahone Bay Academy and at a young age had his own Small Grocery Store in a building on his father's land .He was supposed to become an Anglican Minister but he chose to study to become an electrician which he used working as a Degausser on board Canadian Naval Ships in Bedford Basin during World War ll. He was not able to obtain his full Electrician Nova Scotia Licence (even though he had worked for a time for Nova Scotia Power)because he was colourblind.He was not able to do his dream job so he continued his Entrepreneur journey opening a Shoe Store and Jewellery Repair Store and later a Simpsons Outlet on the Main Level of The Family Home ,Mahone Bay . In 1941 he married Jean Helen Conrad who was a Beautician opening a Business also on the main level of The Family Home ,as well .He met Jean at one of the many dances His Band ,The Merry Makers (See Note)played at. They brought up 3 children in Mahone Bay until moving to Halifax 1962 . See notes for all occupations.As well as other occupations they owned 3 businesses in Halifax/Dartmouth,living in Spryfield,Timberlea,and South Park Street ,Halifax for 17 years . Gordon was known for his electrical and carpentry skills which he shared with many , his friendly manner ,kindness,love of His Family in his personal life but above all else he was known for his sense of humour .When asked in his eighties by his Grandson as to what was his most prized possession,he answered his "4 runner sled"which he spent many hours as a boy riding down Mahone Bay's Oxner's Hill !
