He died Tuesday morning, July 5, 2005, at his home. Gordon Ole Larson was born August 3, 1926, in Green Township, Barnes County, (rural Valley City), the son of Ole and Frances (Gabriel) Larson. Gordon was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Valley City. He attended Green School. Gordon served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II as a paratrooper. Gordon married Dora Vondergeest on June 16, 1949. They made their home in Valley City. He worked for Art Falvey who farmed south of Valley City. He was then called upon again to serve his country during the Korean War. Upon his return to Valley City he continued to work with Art until 1969 when he was forced to retire because of injuries he suffered from the war. He was a member of Grace Free Lutheran Church, a life member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2764. He is survived by his wife, Dora; a daughter and son-in-law, Starr Marie (Ron) Koble, Medina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Gordon (Terry) Larson, Vienna, SD; Kirk Edward (Debbie) Larson, Pequot Lake, MN; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas (Arlene) Larson, Tobias (Margaret) Larson, James (Ruth) Larson; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Vivian (Roland) Stugelmeyer and Herbert Hoff, all Valley City=; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Arnie; and one sister, Gertrude Hoff. Published in the Times Record, Valley City, North Dakota July 6, 2005. Submitted by Dennis C.
