January 8,2 p.m. in the Quam-Plaisted, Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown. He died January 3, 2000 in a house fire at Revere, ND. Gordon Stanley Clemens was born September 9, 1928, at Cooperstown, ND, the son of Harry and Inga (Vangen) Clemens. He grew up and attended school in the area. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. In 1967 he started working as a mechanic with a seismograph crew on the north slope in Alaska. After returning to the area he was a section laborer for the Burlington Northern Railroad for ten years. He made his home in Revere, ND, where he did carpenter and mechanic work. He is survived by six brothers; Ralph (Irene), Welch, MN; Garfield (Beverly), Binford; Robert (Monica), Richard (Yvonne), both of Hannaford; Dennis (Gwen), Bay City, WI; Mahlon (Leona), Cooperstown; a sister-in-law, Gloria Clemens of Red Wing, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin. Source: Griggs County Sentinel-Courier, Cooperstown, ND, January 7, 2000 ********************************************** Man found dead in house fire** Revere--Authorities searched Tuesday through ashes and debris from a house fire and found the body of the man who lived there. He was identified as Gordon Clemens, 71, who lived alone in the house. Revere is about 15 miles southwest of Cooperstown, in Griggs County. The cause of the fire was under investigation, but Griggs County officials said no foul play was suspected. "His home was a trailer house, attached to another house," said Griggs County Sheriff Paul Hendrickson. The fire burned all but one end wall of the trailer and the outside of the house, the sheriff said. Firefighters were called to the scene about 8 p.m. Monday and put out the fire.
