Description	:	Gordon Van Wyhe was born September 30, 1928 in rural Sioux County just south of McNally, Iowa, the son of Lambert and Annie (Van Muyden) Van Wyhe. He then grew up on his family's farm just north of McNally. He fought in the Korean Conflict and after the war he worked construction for a short time and then began full time farming on his family farm. He then grew up on his family's farm just north of McNally. He fought in the Korean Conflict and after the war he worked construction for a short time and then began full time farming on his family farm. He married Kathleen Van Gelder, the daughter of Ed and Jennie (Feenstra) Van Gelder, on March 10, 1955 in Orange City, Iowa, The couple farmed in rural Washington Township in Sioux County. Gordon was a member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church and served on the church board and the Ireton Christian School board for several years. He always enjoyed visiting friends, family and neighbors, and in the past few years making the morning coffee round. His love of life was farming and being in the county. Gordon died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the Hawarden Community Hospital after being stricken at his home at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife. Kathy; son, Randy and his wife Glenda and their sons, Austin and Aaron of Hawarden, Iowa; two daughters, Rhonda and her husband Marlyn Hansen and their children, Grant, Kaitlyn and Craig of Estherville, Iowa, and Brenda Van Wyhe of Tempe, Arizona: three sisters, Margaret Vande Griend of Sioux Center, Iowa, Alice Moerman of Sioux Center and Esther Vande Hoef of Luverne, Minnesota; three brothers, Duane Van Wyhe and wife Helen of Rock Valley, Iowa, Wayne Van Wyhe and wife Jen of Hills, Minnesota and Marlin "Bub" Van Wyhe and wife Darlene of Hawarden: and many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters and their husbands, Ordean and Gertrude Webert and Pete and Dorothy Vande Griend; and three brothers-in-law, Dick Vande Hoef, William Moerman and Dick Vande Griend.
