Description	:	Muscatine Journal - July 6, 2005 Gordon W. Robertson, 79, former resident of Muscatine, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Hope Hospice South, Fort Myers. Mr. Robertson was born in Monte Vista, Colo., the son of Arthur and Civility Robertson. After graduation from Sargent High School, Monte Vista, he joined the Merchant Marines at age 17. Robertson, 79, former resident of Muscatine, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Hope Hospice South, Fort Myers. Mr. Robertson was born in Monte Vista, Colo., the son of Arthur and Civility Robertson. After graduation from Sargent High School, Monte Vista, he joined the Merchant Marines at age 17. He spent time in Okinawa during World War II. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo., with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He began his professional career as an electrical engineer with the REA in Colorado. In 1964 he moved to Muscatine and was employed by Stanley Consultants. His career with SCI included assignments to numerous locations in Iowa, Missouri, Alaska, Bolivia and Antigua. He was an avid RV'er, traveling with his wife to all 50 states and many countries. In 1980 he retired to St. Helen, Mich., and then to Fort Myers in 1983. He was a member of Hope United Presbyterian Church, a past master mason of the Monte Vista, CO Lodge, a 50-year member of the masons and the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the American Legion. He was a spirited and fun-loving husband, dad, stepdad, grandfather and friend. He will be missed always. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gwendolyn Phillips Thomas Robertson; two sons, Gary Robertson of Bailey, Colo. and Brad Robertson of Centennial, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Judith Thomas Sitter and husband Donald of Clermont, Fla.; two granddaughters; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, two grandsons, and a stepson, Larry Thomas.
