Pfeiffer, pioneer businessman of Arlington who died at Excelsior Springs, Missouri on Wednesday, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Congregational Church. Rev. H. C. Van Valkenburgh officiated. Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery where the impressive burial ritual of the Masonic lodge was given by Rev. Van Valkenburgh. Born in Steinreinach, Wurttenberg, Germany on January 21, 1874, Mr. Pfeiffer came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Solomo Pfeiffer, to this country, arriving here on Easter Monday in 1881 when Arlington was still known as Bell Creek. In 1904 Mr. Pfeiffer became affiliated with the Arlington National Bank, a connection which lasted about thirty years; in that time he was cashier for a number of years. He was postmaster here for nearly five years, having served a year of his second appointment. Mr. Pfeiffer was always prominent in civic affairs, and took great pride in serving his community in every way possible. He served on the board of the school, town, Congregational Church and Washington County Agricultural Society. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., Masonic, and Scottish Rite lodges. In 1906 he was married to Elsie Roberts Miller of Arlington who with his stepson, Robert E. Miller of Pasadena, California, survived him. Also surviving are five brothers: John of California, Charles of Oklahoma, Henry and William G. of Arlington, and Fred of Nickerson; also one sister, Mrs. Martha Werner of Onawa, Iowa. ~~~Obituaries courtesy of the Nebraska Washington County Genealogical Society.
